This was the fifth year we have gone to this particular tree farm, and every year, we have to walk further and further to the back of the farm since the trees in the front are always the first to go! This year, it was really neat to see all the "baby trees" growing to become Christmas trees for the future.

Hannah was loving the process, I think because she got to trample through the trees and mud without holding our hands.
We found our tree!!

Chris cut the tree down (I got pictures of that, but he probably doesn't want me to post pictures of him laying on the ground under the tree...) and the "helper" on the 4-wheeler came by the trail and took the tree up to our car for us. Caleb was way ahead of all of us as we walked back. He was fueled by excitement!
When we got home, it was time to trim the tree. First thing's first, figuring out if all the lights work, of course. Hannah was a little confused as to why Daddy laid the lights out all over the floor and also why we wouldn't let her touch them...
Both kids got a kick out of the Santa hats that we found in one of the Christmas decoration boxes:
So, finally, by Saturday, after buying a new star for the top of the tree and returning said star because we didn't like it as much as our old one, we put the final touches on Christmas Tree '09:
To everyone else, it might look the same as last year's tree (since we use the same decorations, of course), but to us, it's a particularly spectacular tree this year. :) (Made even more spectacular because we don't have to put a gate around it this year to keep little fingers off the ornaments. New rule in our house: kids can only touch the one ornament that plays a song when a button is pushed. All other are off-limits. I'll let you know how THAT goes....)

Oh. You're supposed to have a RULE about ornaments?? Wish I would have known that before Alice trimmed, then took off, then re-trimmed, and has once again - taken off all of the Sesame Street and Care Bear ornaments. . . .oh well. . .maybe next year I'll remember to make a rule!!
