On this bright sunny Christmas morning, I thank God for the health of my family, for the blessings He gives us each day and most importantly, for the birth of his son, Jesus Christ.
I am also always hoping for Christmas miracles on a much smaller scale than say....world peace. As a mother of three, I am often thankful for little blessings that make our hectic life a little easier. This morning, the first Christmas miracle was that all three kids slept until 8:00 a.m. instead of waking up at the crack of dawn to see what treasures were left under the tree. After being Santa's "elf" until almost midnight, this was greatly appreciated.
The second Christmas miracle was that after all the gifts were open, all three kids pleasantly, and quietly, went their separate ways to play with their new toys. This allowed my husband and myself to not only make breakfast for the clan (yes, we open gifts BEFORE breakfast in this house), but also to make a second cup of coffee and sit with our feet up for just a few precious moments.
The third Christmas miracle was the finding of Connor's lost "puppy". Connor has a little stuffed puppy that he "needs" to sleep with. The truth is, it's a comfort item, but no one would be getting any sleep if that puppy were lost. After all the gifts were opened, the wrapping scooped up into a big garbage bag and thrown out, and boxes were collapsed for the recycling, Connor started asking for his puppy. I looked around, remembering that he had it by the tree earlier, however, I just couldn't find it anywhere. I started to panic a bit, visualizing how horrible this afternoon could be if the toddler skips his nap, so I wasn't going to end this search until the puppy was found. Finally, I decided that the only place it could be was in the garbage with the wrapping paper. I went into the garage, brought the garbage bag back in and proceeded to dump the entire contents onto our kitchen floor. Sure enough, in the pile of balled-up wrapping and tissue paper was the little dirty (by "dirty", I mean "really loved") puppy, just waiting to be found. WHEW is about all can say about that! It's a miracle it was found and that we didn't have to go digging in the garbage more than we did. You can bet I'm keeping my eye on the whereabouts of that puppy for the rest of the day!
Merry Christmas to everyone and warm wishes to you and yours!!
