No, this isn't the beginning of a hilarious and completely random joke. It's the nutshell version of what I've experienced in the past two days. Yesterday morning (Sunday), Caleb was invited to his friend's birthday party. The invitation promised pizza, cupcakes, and a "reptile presentation". How could we miss it?! You will be proud: Wimpy Katie actually touched a turtle, a gecko, a disgusting lizard, and 5 snakes including a boa constrictor. Whoopie! My positive example even got my son to touch the turtle, the gecko and one of the snakes. All in all, it was an amazing presentation and I learned a lot. (Lizards can blink but snakes can't. Just a little FYI for you...) I did, however, go home and tell Chris right away that our children will never have reptiles for pets....
In the evening, my brother- and sister-in-law came over for dinner. It was a nice evening of relaxation and playing the Wii, of course. (If you have a Wii, you need to get skeeball!!) Turns out, my brother-in-law, John, is a skeeball champ and his wife, Heather, can really play tennis. Everyone's athletic abilities come out with the Wii! Also that evening, while we were sitting outside enjoying the perfect weather, we noticed Caleb sticking his face into a little crevis of his Little Tikes slide structure. As it turned out, he was talking to a bee that happened to be starting a hive there. Chris ended up destroying two bee hives right next to each other. Thank goodness, because if they would have grown, Caleb would have a summer of bee-stings for sure! (Frizt Facts, thanks for the info on treating bee stings! I'm a novice at all of this "mom stuff".) :)
My story concludes with a very eventful morning. Chris headed off to work early and the kids and I had a big day planned with visits to an awesome park in Stillwater and a library tour this afternoon. Unfortunately, our plans were thwarted when my 5-month old daughter puked ALL OVER my bed.....TWICE! My "very eventful" morning has been full of laundry and cuddling a sick child, which, I guess, isn't so bad. :)
