On Friday, we drove to Detroit Lakes (3 hours north of the cities) for the annual "Hunter Girls' Reunion". Every March, we meet up with my mother-in-law's side of the family (her mom and aunt are the Hunter Girls----that was their maiden name). It's so much fun to see how everyone has changed in the last year and always fun to meet the "new additions". This year, I believe there were two new babies and two new girlfriends/fiancees added so you can see how our extended family keeps growing and growing! (On a side note, I'm titling this "Part 1" because I have more pictures to post at a later time.) I didn't take very many pictures because I was too busy chasing my toddler all over creation. It was to be expected that she would love to run up and down the halls because Caleb loved to do the same thing when he was her age. She was certainly making people smile because as she was running back and forth in the halls and up and down the stairs, she was talking the WHOLE time.
(Please excuse the beer that Chris is holding. This was around the kids' bedtime and we were getting ready to play some Polish Poker with the other adults.) :) At least, her running helped wear her out for naps and bedtime. Another thing that helped was the swimming pool. Hannah wore a swimsuit and went in a pool for the first time ever. She didn't like it very much because the water was pretty cold but she LOVED the hot tub. The water in there wasn't too hot and she instantly calmed down and practically fell asleep while we were in there! Who knew? Really warm water, soothing water-jets and Grandma singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" puts her right out! :)
Caleb was a swimming machine this weekend! He went down the water slide with Daddy several times and even got Grandma and Grandpa to go down with him, too! He wore his "swimming muscles" (floaties) and also used a foam noodle to keep him afloat in the water. However, by Saturday evening, he was so good at swimming with just the floaties, that he stopped using the noodle and ended up forgetting it at the pool. When we went back, someone had taken it, so it was a sad day for the noodle, but at least we now know what Caleb is capable of when it comes to swimming. (More swimming lessons will be starting soon for him, however.)

Hard to believe that THREE more babies will be added to this clan by the fall. It's so much fun to see the kids grow up! I'm so glad that we have get-togethers like this as much as we do since kids have the tendency to grow really fast!!
Caleb and Hannah were awesome sleepers while we stayed in the hotel.....until this morning. Hannah woke up at 5am, which is practically unheard of in our house. She would not go back to sleep and ended up waking her brother up at 6:30am---an hour earlier than normal. What were we going to do so early? Pack up and head home! We're usually one of the families that leaves last when everyone is heading home, but this time, we were the first. We ended up taking a little detour through Little Falls on our way home and I'm so glad that we did! We accidentally drove right past the Little Falls Dam and it was amazing! I'm not sure if it's just because of the high water or if this is normally how this area runs, but the water was flowing with tremendous speed and force. There were so many people that were stopping and taking pictures (like us) which makes me think that this is pretty unusual for this time of year.
It was a great weekend, altough we're glad to be home. Chris must have felt couped-up in the hotel and car all weekend: he took Caleb fishing to a local fishing area once we got home and unpacked. No fish this time, but it got them in the mood to do a lot more fishing once it warms up a bit. To everyone that was at Hunter Girls, thanks for a great time and we'll see you next year! :)
