Memorial Day

It's been our tradition for as long as our little family has existed to visit Chris' grandparents on Memorial Day.  They have coordinated a Memorial Day celebration for their town for many years and we enjoy it so much!  One of the very cool parts of the ceremony is seeing my husband's grandfather be the "Sergeant at Arms", which he has been doing for over 60 years.  This was the first year where Caleb could absolutely appreciate how cool it is to see great grandpa instruct the veterans to do the gun salute.  He even picked up an empty bullet shell from the salute and is keeping it as a souvenir.  (We of course told him that he's seen this every year since he was born, but to a six-year old, it's hard to remember stuff like that!)  I love that he's to an age where he can finally understand how many actual heroes we have in our family.  Both of his great-grandfathers, plus his aunt, his grandpa and so many others have put their lives on the line for their country.  We are blessed to have such brave people surrounding us and we are proud and grateful for their sacrifices.  Thank you!!!
