Summer Is Here!!

Summer has arrived and school is out, which is the exact reason I have not been able to post anything yet this month.  Caleb's kindergarten year ended the first week of June, but even that was a busy week with a class play one day (Caleb played an important role of Mr. Fox in "The Little Red Hen" and he did a GREAT job!!!) and then he had a field trip to a farm another day that week.  I chaperoned and was able to take approximately three pictures with my phone before the battery died, so this is as good as it gets:

Pretty decent considering that Caleb has a huge love for baby chickens.  :)

The day after Caleb was out of school, it was not only my birthday but also Connor's half-birthday.  We didn't have much time to celebrate that day, though, because we had Hannah's dance recital to attend.

She did a great job, dancing in a tap dance, a ballet dance and also the finale of the show.  She must miss going to dance class now because after weeks of telling me she never wanted to dance again, she's starting to ask if I'll sign her up to dance next year.  (We'll see!)  Oh, and if she looks a little sleepy in the picture, she was!  Her class didn't dance until the second half of the recital, so she practically fell asleep sitting next to us before intermission.  It's hard for a four-year old to wait for her dancing debut and she certainly had dark circles under her eyes by the end of the show!  :)

The first full week of summer break, we were met with so-so weather.  Rainy on the days we planned to play at the park (of course) and nice on the day we planned to go to the Mall of America with friends.  We had a great time at the mall, though, and even got to see some characters that we don't normally see walking around.

This past weekend was packed-full of fun events.  On Thursday, I attended my MOMS Club's annual fondue party.  Talk about a good time and a fun meal---it's something all of the members look forward to all year.  The next evening, my mom baby-sat the kiddos while Chris and I had dinner with some of my high school friends and their significant others.  It was SO fun to hang out with them and it was fun for the hubbies to join us, since usually we have dinner just "us girls".  Saturday, my side of the family stopped over for a BBQ in honor of Father's Day and my dad's birthday.  I think it was a great "send off" for Chris' old grill because it was the last time it will ever be used.  On Father's Day (Sunday), Chris got to go pick up his Father's Day gift: a new grill.  Our old one was Chris' first Father's Day gift (from Caleb, who was still in utero at the time!) and Chris was well over-due to get a new one.

Chris is excited to play with his new "toy"....and I'm excited to let him do more of the summer-time cooking!  :)

All in all, summer is off to a great start at our house.  :)
