The Calendar

Caleb is learning all sorts of things lately, such as reading, addition/subtraction, and how to read a calendar (and doing a great job!). So, he was thrilled today when Great Grandma and Grandpa gave him and his sister some stickers that they could put on a calendar. He read what each sticker said ("birthday", "anniversary", "appointment", etc) and Hannah pulled out her new desk-sized calendar that she got for free from the FedEx store last week. Caleb immediately turned to March and asked what day was "today". He plopped a sticker on today. Then he asked what days he goes to school, putting "school" stickers on each of those days. He found his birthday and put one on there, then Hannah's and did the same. He asked when our wedding anniversary was and put a sticker on that day, too. Finally, he was getting down to only a few stickers left and he looked a little stumped.
"Mom, what day are we moving?"
"Caleb, we aren't moving any time soon."
He made a frustrated face. I could tell that he wanted to put ALL the stickers on the calendar, even if we weren't doing the things that the sticker said (like moving). Finally, he flipped the calendar to a month at the end of the year and announced, "I'm picking a day that we're moving and we HAVE to move on that day, okay?" Sounds like he found a home for his "moving" sticker, but he'll be quite disappointed to find out that we will be living in the same old house on that day.

Your little boy might be bored in K next year. He'll keep his teacher on her toes for sure! :)

Keep in mind that you don't know what the future will bring. Caleb may be on to something... LOL!
